Attackers increasingly log in rather than break in. Stolen passwords, session tokens, and over-privileged accounts are behind a large share of breaches. Identity security brings together access management, privileged access controls, identity governance, and identity threat detection, so the right people have the right access and misuse is caught quickly. WC1 designs and delivers identity programmes for Singapore and Philippine organisations.
The problem: why identity security and access management matters
Identity estates are messy: multiple directories, local accounts on applications, shared admin passwords, service accounts with permanent high privileges, and leavers whose access is never fully removed. MFA may be enabled for some users but bypassed through legacy protocols.
Attackers exploit these gaps with password spraying, MFA fatigue attacks, token theft, and Active Directory attacks. Many organisations lack visibility into identity-based threats until damage is done.
Who this service is for
Organisations consolidating directories, rolling out SSO and MFA, securing administrator access, or preparing for audits that examine access reviews and privileged account controls.
What WC1 delivers
Every engagement is scoped to your environment and risk. These are the building blocks we combine for identity security and access management:
- Identity assessment: Review of directories, authentication methods, privileged accounts, and joiner-mover-leaver processes.
- SSO and MFA rollout: Single sign-on across applications and phishing-resistant MFA, including passkeys and FIDO2 where suitable, with legacy authentication retired.
- Privileged access management (PAM): Vaulting, just-in-time elevation, session recording, and credential rotation for administrators and service accounts.
- Identity governance: Access request workflows, role models, periodic access reviews, and automated provisioning and deprovisioning.
- Active Directory and Entra ID hardening: Tiered administration, attack path reduction, and secure configuration of hybrid identity.
- Identity threat detection and response (ITDR): Detection of identity attacks such as credential stuffing, token replay, and privilege escalation, with automated response.
How the engagement runs
1. Assess
Inventory identities, applications, privileged accounts, and processes, and identify top risks.
2. Quick wins
Enforce MFA for administrators and remote access, block legacy authentication, and remove stale accounts.
3. Build
Roll out SSO, PAM, and governance workflows in phases by application and user group.
4. Detect
Enable identity threat detection and integrate with your SOC or MDR.
5. Sustain
Run access reviews, measure coverage, and hand over operating procedures.
Commercial shape follows the work: a fixed-scope assessment or implementation when the problem is well bounded, or a retainer when you need ongoing operation, tuning, and reporting. Coverage hours, response times, and responsibilities are written into the statement of work so there are no surprises.
Deliverables you can expect
- Identity risk assessment and roadmap
- MFA and conditional access policy set
- SSO integration for priority applications
- PAM deployment with vaulted privileged accounts
- Access review process and first review cycle
- Identity threat detection rules and response playbooks
Platforms and tools we integrate
We work with Microsoft Entra ID and Entra ID Governance, Okta, Ping Identity, CyberArk (now part of Palo Alto Networks), BeyondTrust, Delinea, SailPoint, CrowdStrike Falcon Identity Protection, and Microsoft Defender for Identity, as well as on-premises Active Directory. Cisco environments are covered too, including Cisco Duo and Cisco Identity Intelligence.
WC1 is vendor-neutral: we integrate the platforms you already own before recommending anything new. Naming a product here describes technology we work with; it does not imply a partnership, reseller agreement, or vendor certification.
Singapore: regulatory and market relevance
MAS Notice on Cyber Hygiene requires controls over administrative accounts and MFA for administrative access and for systems holding confidential customer data. The TRM Guidelines set expectations on access management, privileged access, and user access reviews. CSA’s Cyber Trust mark and IM8 include identity controls. A structured identity programme provides clear evidence for each of these.
Philippines: regulatory and market relevance
BSP Circular 982 requires strong authentication, access control, and privileged access management for banks, and AFASA increases the focus on protecting customer accounts from takeover. The NPC’s security requirements for personal data include access controls and regular review of user access. Philippine organisations with large BPO and contractor workforces particularly benefit from automated provisioning and deprovisioning.
How this fits the rest of your security programme
Identity Security and Access Management rarely stands alone. It works best alongside Zero Trust and SASE, Deep and Dark Web Monitoring, XDR and Endpoint Security, Data Security and DLP. It also connects to our Integration services. See the full catalogue on our Cybersecurity services page.
Frequently asked questions
What is phishing-resistant MFA?
MFA methods that cannot be relayed by a fake login page, such as FIDO2 security keys, passkeys, and certificate-based authentication. They defeat most modern phishing kits.
Do we need a separate PAM tool?
If you have many administrators, service accounts, or regulated systems, usually yes. Smaller environments can start with just-in-time elevation in their identity platform.
How do you handle service accounts?
We inventory them, remove unnecessary privileges, rotate credentials through a vault, and monitor their use for anomalies.
Can you secure a hybrid Active Directory and cloud identity setup?
Yes. Hybrid identity is common, and we harden both sides and the synchronisation between them.
How often should access be reviewed?
Privileged and high-risk access at least quarterly, and standard access at least annually, with automated deprovisioning on role changes and exits.
