Endpoints and servers are where ransomware detonates and where attackers steal credentials. Endpoint detection and response (EDR) and extended detection and response (XDR) give you visibility and the ability to stop attacks in progress, but only when they are deployed everywhere, configured properly, and tuned to your environment. WC1 plans and delivers EDR and XDR rollouts for Singapore and Philippine organisations, from pilot to full coverage.
The problem: why XDR and endpoint security matters
Traditional antivirus misses hands-on-keyboard attacks, living-off-the-land techniques, and new ransomware. Many organisations have bought an EDR licence but left it in audit mode, deployed it to only part of the estate, or excluded critical servers because of performance concerns.
Separate consoles for endpoint, email, identity, and cloud force analysts to piece together attacks manually. XDR promises correlation, but only if the data sources are connected and the policies are tuned.
Who this service is for
IT and security teams replacing legacy antivirus, organisations consolidating security consoles, and companies preparing for cyber insurance renewals or regulatory reviews that require EDR coverage.
What WC1 delivers
Every engagement is scoped to your environment and risk. These are the building blocks we combine for XDR and endpoint security:
- Platform selection and pilot: Structured evaluation of EDR and XDR options against your environment, with a pilot on representative endpoints and servers.
- Estate-wide deployment: Staged rollout to workstations, servers, virtual desktops, and cloud workloads, with coverage reporting and exception management.
- Policy hardening: Prevention policies, attack surface reduction rules, device control, and tamper protection set to block, not just observe.
- XDR integration: Connection of identity, email, cloud, and network telemetry for correlated incidents and automated response.
- Detection tuning: Reduction of false positives and exclusions, and custom detections for your applications and admin tools.
- Response runbooks: Playbooks for isolation, remediation, and recovery that your team or MDR provider can follow.
How the engagement runs
1. Assess
Inventory endpoints and servers, current protection, and constraints such as legacy operating systems and OT-adjacent hosts.
2. Pilot
Deploy to a representative group, measure performance and detection, and refine policies.
3. Roll out
Deploy in waves, move policies from audit to block, and track coverage to near-complete.
4. Integrate
Connect XDR data sources, SIEM, and SOAR, and configure automated responses.
5. Hand over
Deliver runbooks, dashboards, and training, and optionally transition to MDR.
Commercial shape follows the work: a fixed-scope assessment or implementation when the problem is well bounded, or a retainer when you need ongoing operation, tuning, and reporting. Coverage hours, response times, and responsibilities are written into the statement of work so there are no surprises.
Deliverables you can expect
- Platform evaluation and pilot report
- Deployment plan and coverage dashboard
- Hardened prevention policies and exception register
- XDR data source integration
- Tuned detection and exclusion set
- Response runbooks and admin training
Platforms and tools we integrate
We deploy and tune leading platforms including CrowdStrike Falcon Insight XDR, Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Defender XDR, Fortinet FortiEDR and FortiXDR, SentinelOne Singularity, and Trend Micro Vision One, together with endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune. Cisco environments are covered too, including Cisco XDR and Cisco Secure Endpoint.
WC1 is vendor-neutral: we integrate the platforms you already own before recommending anything new. Naming a product here describes technology we work with; it does not imply a partnership, reseller agreement, or vendor certification.
Singapore: regulatory and market relevance
MAS Notice on Cyber Hygiene requires malware protection measures on systems and timely security patching, and the TRM Guidelines expect endpoint security and monitoring. CSA’s Cyber Essentials mark for SMEs also covers malware protection and secure configuration. For government-facing vendors, IM8 policies include endpoint protection expectations. A tuned EDR deployment is one of the most direct ways to evidence these controls.
Philippines: regulatory and market relevance
BSP Circular 982 expects banks to protect endpoints and servers against malware and to monitor for intrusions. Organisations covered by the Data Privacy Act are expected to implement reasonable technical security measures, which the NPC interprets with reference to current good practice, including modern endpoint protection. Philippine government agencies following DICT’s National Cybersecurity Plan are also expanding endpoint visibility.
How this fits the rest of your security programme
XDR and Endpoint Security rarely stands alone. It works best alongside Managed Detection and Response, SIEM and SOC Modernization, Identity Security and Access Management, Incident Response Readiness. See the full catalogue on our Cybersecurity services page.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between EDR and XDR?
EDR focuses on endpoints and servers. XDR extends detection and response across other sources such as identity, email, cloud, and network, and correlates them into single incidents.
Will EDR slow down our servers?
Modern EDR agents are lightweight, but critical servers deserve a pilot. We measure performance before broad rollout and tune exclusions carefully rather than excluding entire systems.
Can you deploy to legacy or unsupported systems?
Some platforms support older operating systems in limited ways. Where they do not, we recommend compensating controls such as segmentation and monitoring.
Should we move straight to blocking mode?
No. We start in a monitored mode during the pilot, then move policies to prevention in stages once false positives are addressed.
Do we need MDR as well?
If nobody watches EDR alerts out of hours, yes. EDR without monitoring leaves gaps. We can pair deployment with an MDR model that fits.
